Canstruction

Type: Installation

Year: 2012
Status: Competition
Team: Eike Schling
Office: PLP Architecture
Website: Canstruction

The sculpture was inspired by the French children’s book, Le Petit Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, in which two sketches of a snake eating an elefant are depicted. Our sculpture combines both sketches and was made of 7000 pineapple and tuna cans, which were stacked and rotated following an algorithmic 3d layout. The event took place on Sunday June 24th 2012 at Canary Warf Shopping Mall. The sculpture is one of 12 entries to a competition between leading London Architecture and Design firms. All cans will be donated to public shelters after the exhibition, which ended on the 7th of July 2012.
