We are proud to share that our team has been awarded 2nd Prize in the national competition for the new memorial at the Otto-Lilienthal-Kaserne in Roth. Our design “Ehrenmal im Zeichen des Flügels” proposes a lightweight steel structure in the form of an abstracted wing, floating lightly above a circular memorial plaza. The structure creates a powerful sculptural gesture of protection, while maintaining openness and lightness.
Inspired by the pioneering work of Hugo Junkers, the project draws on principles from aviation and lightweight construction. Curved steel lamellae follow geodesic lines. A carefully lighting design accentuates the spatial qualities of the memorial, as a tribute to the past and a contemporary architectural statement.
